Eastlink Internet

In 2000, Eastlink offered its triple play service which was cutting edge at the time. Over the years, the company’s offerings grew to include exclusive internet plans for both corporate and residential settings.

Let’s take a look at Eastlink’s residential internet plan in comparison to its competitors.

Eastlink’s residential internet plan is called the Eastlink Bundle. With download speeds of up to 20 mbps and upload speeds of up to 1 mbps, this plan costs $72.95 and has data capping of only 80 GB per month. Several reviews find this plan a bit too pricey for what it offers and suggest that one possible way to make this plan worth its price is by increasing its bandwidth limit.

Plan upgrades are offered by Eastlink however, they come at a cost –20 cents per GB with a maximum $30 per month.

Another service feature that Eastlink lacks is unlimited usage. Most of Eastlink’s competitors set hours for unlimited downloads without affecting a customer’s data cap. It’s a very attractive and practical service that could’ve made Eastlink’s internet plan worth the price.

Eastlink’s standard installation fee is $49.95. Despite its high pricing, Eastlink’s residential internet plan comes with a silver lining –there is no lock-in period so customers can opt out so should they choose.

Through the years, Eastlink has continued to provide reliable internet service but as we discussed above, it comes with a rather lofty price. Its current high-speed internet plans are better for corporate users and other businesses. On the other hand, customers in residential areas would happily welcome basic internet plans with lower speeds, an option that Eastlink does not provide at the moment.
